2012 (Wpg): Electrifying Blue Bomber fans with his return capabilities, Demond Washington began the year as the team’s primary returner, scoring his first punt return touchdown – an 82-yarder – in week two on Jul 6/12 against the Montreal Alouettes. He constantly set the offence up with great field position and finished the season with the third highest return yardage in the league with 2,011 yards, 588 on punt returns and 1,423 on kickoff returns. Washington also started seven games in the secondary splitting time between cornerback, halfback and SAM linebacker. He finished the year with 30 defensive tackles, two special teams tackles, one tackle for loss, one interception, two sacks, one fumble recovery, one forced fumble and three pass knockdowns. Washington was named the league’s Special Teams Player of the Week in week 11 after fielding four punts for 114 yards, including one that he returned for an 82-yard touchdown.
2011 (NFL): Washington attended training camp with the Kansas City Chiefs and recorded four tackles during the preseason as well as one kickoff return for 21 yards, before being among the team’s final cuts.
Auburn Tigers (NCAA Div.1 FBS): Washington played in 27 games while at Auburn and helped the Tigers capture the National Championship in his senior year. During his collegiate career, he tallied 91 tackles, 7.5 tackles for loss, two sacks, three interceptions and one fumble recovery while also serving as the team’s primary kick returner as a senior, recording 1,117 return yards which ranked him fourth in the country that year.
